Born from a diploma project and discovered by Susie Bubble in 2012, the brand Tomcsanyi is a playful experiment with colors and prints. In the world of Tomcsanyi, nothing is taken for granted - the unusual beauties of life are reimagined through vibrant patterns.
Inspired by local impressions and moments of everyday life back in the days of socialism in Hungary, each collection is investigating the essence of being Hungarian. Impacts of art, architecture and the often ugly products of industrial design of the 70s come to life on the unique, colorful prints and result in an unconventional and intellectual appeal.
The sometimes overwhelmingly colorful world of the patterns is delicately counterbalanced by a classical approach to tailoring, clean cuts, and functionalist silhouettes that make the collections modern yet timeless.
Nurturing female talent and local employment is key in keeping our business small and sustainable. Sourcing from family-owned textile factories, using long-lasting, high-quality natural fabrics, and packaging our products in reusable dust bags are all important milestones on our way towards becoming a 100% environmentally and socially responsible fashion brand.
Accordingly, we do not keep stock to avoid overproduction and waste but offer a two-week delivery time. All our pieces are handcrafted in the Budapest atelier and making quality garments needs time, besides skills and experience. In our physical store in the heart of Budapest, we offer a free fit-to-size service as well as a lifelong repairing service to help customers preserve their Tomcsanyi piece and thus further reduce textile waste.
